Umbertide - Civitella Ranieri

A short walk from town, in a dominant position, is the Pinewood Ranieri, historical oasis of refreshment for umbertidesi that for some years, along with Macchione and Rainieri Park , has become a buffer of 23 hectares of green facilities and not available citizens and tourists. The pine forest, just above the E-45, can be admired in all its majestic castle of Civitella Ranieri, a splendid example of medieval fortress. Its construction dates back to 1000. Continuing a few kilometers you reach the castle Partucci Serra. The current structure was built on the ruins of the ancient castle, destroyed in 1420 by James Baglioni, lieutenant arm Fortinbras. The two castles can be viewed only from the outside, being inhabited.
